Freedom Polio<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Freedom Polio was a comprehensive mHealth and social mobilization initiative led by ZMQ in partnership with the CORE Group Polio Project (CGPP) to support India\u2019s polio eradication efforts. The program focused on strengthening community-level health management and increasing acceptance and uptake of Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV), Supplementary Immunization Activities (SIA), and Routine Immunization (RI) in high-risk and underserved areas. ZMQ designed and implemented the technology-led components of the project, while community engagement was driven through an extensive, well-structured grassroots network.<\/p>\n

The project operated across 56 blocks in 13 high-risk districts of Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, in collaboration with NGO partners\u2014Population Concern International (PCI), ADRA, and Catholic Relief Services (CRS). At the core of the program was a three-tier Social Mobilization Network comprising District Mobilization Coordinators (DMCs), Block Mobilization Coordinators (BMCs), and over 1,300 Community Mobilization Coordinators (CMCs). These frontline workers conducted household visits, community meetings, and health camps, maintained immunization records, and worked closely with local influencers to address resistance and misinformation.<\/p>\n

Freedom Polio was implemented in close coordination with district governments, the National Polio Surveillance Project (NPSP), and partners such as UNICEF, CARE, and Rotary. Reaching more than 21 million children under 15 years annually, the program played a critical role in sustaining behavior change and strengthening immunization systems in some of India\u2019s most vulnerable communities.<\/p>\n
